Requirements to vote:

  • 18 years old on or by the first Tuesday following the first Monday of November.

  • US citizen.

  • Resident of Nevada for 30 days before Election Day and of your precinct for 10 days before Election Day.

  • Not be convicted of a felony. If you have been convicted of a felony, you must have had your rights restored.

  • Not be found legally incompetent by a court.


How do I register? 

  • In the state of Nevada, you can register to vote online, via mail, in person, or at the polls on Election Day.

  • To register online, you must complete this form at http://www.registertovotenv.gov/

    • The deadline to register online is 19 days before Election Day.

  • To register via mail, you should print and mail this form to your county clerk, Registrar of Voters office, city clerk, or DMV. You can find the form at: https://www.nvsos.gov/SOSVoterRegForm/home.aspx. You should fill it out on, print it, sign it, and mail it. You can find your county clerk’s office at https://www.nvsos.gov/sos/elections/voters/county-clerk-contact-information

    • The deadline to register via mail is 28 days before Election Day. Your form must be postmarked by the deadline.

  • To register in person, you must go to a local county clerk or election commissioner’s office. You can find your county clerk’s office at https://www.nvsos.gov/sos/elections/voters/county-clerk-contact-information

    • Make sure that you have your driver’s license or Nevada ID card. If you don’t have either, you can provide the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number.

    • You can also register at a DMV, a college campus, or social service agencies.

    • The deadline to register in person is 21 days before Election Day.

  • You do not have to designate a party affiliation in order to vote. However, if you want to vote in the primary election, you must designate an affiliation. If you do not, you will automatically receive a nonpartisan ballot.

  • If you legally change your name, move to a new address, or want to change your party affiliation, you must update your voter information. You can do so online at http://www.registertovotenv.gov/

  • If you have not voted in two consecutive federal elections, your registration will be automatically canceled, and you will have to re-register.


Can I pre-register?

  • You can pre-register if you are 17 years old and will be 18 by Election Day.
