Requirements to Vote:
18 years old on or by Election Day.
US citizen.
Resident of West Virginia and the country where you are applying to vote for at least 30 days prior to the election.
Not be convicted, probation, or parole for treason, bribery in an election, or any felony is allowed to vote. After completing their sentence, a person can register to vote again.
Nor have been judged mentally incompetent to vote by a court.
How do I register?
In the state of West Virginia, you can register to vote online, via mail, or in person.
To register online, go to https://ovr.sos.wv.gov/Register/Landing#Qualifications. If you do not have a West Virginia driver's license or ID card number and the last four digits of your Social Security Number, you cannot register online but you may register via mail.
The deadline to register online is 21 days before Election Day.
To register via mail, you must enter your information online to be auto-filled in a voter registration application. Once you create your application online, you may print, sign and deliver it to your county clerk via mail or in person. You can find your county clerk at https://sos.wv.gov/elections/Pages/CountyClerkDirectory.aspx
If you prefer to complete your voter registration form by hand, you may download the form at: https://sos.wv.gov/FormSearch/Elections/Voter/mail%20in%20voter%20registration%20application.pdf and mail it or deliver it in person to your county clerk.
Your form must be postmarked 21 days before Election Day.
To register in person, go to your local county clerk’s office.

You do not have to designate a party affiliation in order to vote in a general election, but in order to vote in the primaries, you must indicate a party.
If you have legally changed your name or moved to a new address, you must update your voter registration online at https://ovr.sos.wv.gov/Register/Landing#Qualifications
Can I pre-register?
You can pre-register to vote if you are 17 years old, as long as you will be 18 at the time of the election.
